Giovanni Piovan, professionally known as Lumier
Material as a language.
Giovanni Piovan, professionally known as Lumier, was born on 4 November 2003 in San Donà di Piave and raised in Eraclea, Italy.
After studying at Liceo San Luigi and pursuing Art History at Ca’ Foscari University, he developed a direct engagement with materials and conservation at UIA in Venice, based at Villa Hériot.
His practice is rooted in metalwork. The human figure, movement, tension, boundaries and transformation are investigated through cutting, welding, engraving, oxidation and controlled surface treatments.
